Scope Of Work
The Drew Elementary School Renovation project, completed for the Louisiana Department of Economic Recovery School District, included the addition, demolition, restoration, and renovation of a three-story, 69,000 square foot elementary school campus located in New Orleans, LA. The facility, which houses approximately 200 primary grade students, was constructed utilizing a concrete foundation and a concrete masonry unit block structural frame, an exterior of brick and stucco, and a standing seam membrane roof. The project also included the demolition of original walls, floors, mechanical equipment, and electrical systems and replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Features consist of new window glass, an automatic sprinkler system, a state-of-the-art fire alarm system, two restroom towers, and a library reading room. Site work entailed construction of a courtyard play area, covered walkways, and two ADA compliant ramps. This project achieved LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for energy efficiency and sustainability. With restoration of the school's original wood floors and window sashes, Drew Elementary School now stands fully restored to serve members of the Bywater District of New Orleans.
