Scope Of Work
This project consisted of the evaluation of this State Park’s existing beach area showers/toilet rooms/concessions facility relative to feasibility and cost-effectiveness of reconfiguration and remodeling. The study and current operational/programmatic needs revealed the need for a new facility. The existing building was razed and a new 735 SF building was designed to accommodate multiple men’s and women’s restrooms, changing areas, drinking fountains and outdoor showers. The building materials of split and smooth faced CMU, glass block, sealed concrete floors, standing seam metal roof, and venting cupola were chosen for their durability, aesthetics, and low maintenance aspects. The facility is very energy efficient, utilizing a high degree of daylighting and automatic controls on plumbing fixtures. Artificial lighting is controlled by photo cells and occupancy sensors. The building was strategically placed on the site to allow development of future structured outdoor areas and pavilions.
