Scope Of Work
Sandy Hook is a large sand spit, or extension of a barrier peninsula, that is located along the tip of the northern New Jersey shore. Most of Sandy Hook is managed by the National Park Service as the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area. The eastern shoreline consists of picturesque sandy beaches which are considered some of the finest beaches in New Jersey. Sandy Hook is home to the now defunct US Army post, Fort Hancock, a popular attraction for visitors at the northern tip of the peninsula; as well as an active Coast Guard base.
The Complete Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway, Phase III project includes completing the existing multi-use pathway (MUP) located throughout the park. It adds an additional 0.97 miles to the MUP and will complete a trail loop throughout the Fort Hancock area of Sandy Hook. The project consists of the design and construction of the Nine Gun Battery Connector, the HQ Plaza Connector, and the Gunnison Battery Plaza Connector. It also includes the design and construction of a new pedestrian plaza at the terminus of the Nine Gun Battery Connector.
